I use the Kestrel for kitesurfing and have taken it to Spain, Costa Rica and all over the US. When rigging the kite, it's essential to know what the winds are and the gusts in order to pick the right size kite. It's a major bummer to rig a kite and have it fall out of the sky because you picked too small a kite for the winds or get yanked around because you picked too big a kite. The temperature helps me decide on layers - full, shorty, just top wetsuit, etc. I find it's an essential tool for making sure we have a great and safe kiting day. It's really stood up to travel and lots of sand. Highly recommended and great for attracting a crowd on a kiters' beach!

I use my kestrel 2000 to predict the impact of surface winds on the saftey of my crew at launch and recovery of our Ballon while on tour in Iraq. It is compact and always accesable while we are on site and gives us the knowlege we need for our job when the weathers working aginst us.The fast response time tells me if the knts at surface levl so that we dont have to keep guessing what the wind is doing.

We used the Kestrel 2000 for our K-9 Search and Rescue Training and for our emergency searches. It really helps us to be better able to use our K9 dogs in the most efficient manner to get the job done.

I have had my Kestrel 2000 for roughly 2 yrs now. It has preformed flawlessly, and until now the impeller has not had to be replaced. i plan to take me 200 on a tornado chasing trip i have planned for next summer. My 2000 has survived living on the oregon coast getting sand and salt blasted in 60mph winds.and just recently i moved to montana and again it has had no issues with the high winds and the heavy snows or extreme cold.

I've just attended an internal training class and it was critical to measure extraction flow. It's well known that we use Kestrel flow meters.

Our field staff encounters varied and extreme conditions. In the past we have used both Kestrel and Sherpa units. We are discontinuing using the Sherpas in favor of the Kestrels. The Kestrel 2000 has proven to be more accurate and more durable.

I work for a fireworks company and use the wind meter all the time. Its the coolest new gadget and I keep telling everyone in my office they need to buy one.

We have 3 Kestrel 1000's and 2 Kestrel 2000's so far and we are looking to buy 2 more Kestrel 2000's. We found the wind and temp feature to be just what we need for weather watch. As funding becomes available, we hope to have a Kestrel for every member of our ESDA weather watch team here in South Pekin, Illinois.
Thanks Kestrel for a fine product

The Kestrel 2000 Pocket Weather Meter is for those of you who like to know just how cold and windy it really is… With the external temperature sensor, the Kestrel 2000 can take accurate water and snow temperature readings too. Just stick the unit in – don’t worry, it’s fully waterproof and it floats. (4-05)
